Programming writes software to vehicle control units. E-Sys performs this work using a prepared plan. Some operations are protected and require a programming protection token.

This guide explains Programming Protection Token Basic (PPT Basic): identifying when it is needed, obtaining it and returning the response to E-Sys.

Where the token request comes from

Programming protection restricts certain operations involving unit software. It helps reduce risks, including those associated with installing older software versions. PPT Basic applies to units in Field-Mode, the vehicle's normal operating mode.

To check whether a token is needed, E-Sys needs to know what you intend to do. Prepare the unit operation plan, software information and vehicle identification number.

E-Sys uses these data to check programming protection. If the job requires a token, it can create a request file. Submit that file to the service. VIN alone is insufficient because the request relates to both the vehicle and the planned work.

The service prepares a token response. Load it back into E-Sys so the program can use the permission when executing the plan. The software files and operation plan must already be prepared.

Example: checking protection and applying the response

This example uses E-Sys 25.10.01. The operation plan and corresponding vehicle data are already prepared.

1. Check whether a token is required

Open Expert Mode → TAL-Processing with the prepared plan and vehicle data. Select Check Programming Protection. E-Sys shows which units require tokens and which protection variant applies.

The following steps apply when the check requires PPT Basic. The service needs a request for this variant. Before ordering, check that the request matches the chosen operation and service requirements.

2. Save the request and obtain the response

In Programming Protection Basic (Field-Mode), select Create request file. Save the created file unchanged and submit it to obtain PPT Basic.

Save the response after processing. Keep it beside the request as a separate file. This pair belongs to the work for which the request was created.

3. Return the response to E-Sys

Return to TAL-Processing. In the same Programming Protection Basic (Field-Mode) row, select … and choose the service response. Its path appears in the adjacent field.

E-Sys checks whether the selected token is suitable when the plan starts.

4. Perform the prepared work

When the vehicle and all programming requirements are ready, select Start to execute the plan. E-Sys checks the token and uses it for the protected operations that require it.

Monitor execution. Afterwards, check which actions completed and whether errors remain. This establishes the programming result.

If E-Sys rejects the token or the plan fails, keep the exact message and E-Sys version. These help distinguish a permission problem from a failure during the operation itself.

Obtain PPT Basic

Use the request from Programming Protection Basic (Field-Mode) for the prepared plan. Select the response in the same E-Sys row after receiving it.

Orders are handled through the Telegram bot. Open the bot from the service page, check the selected service and follow its input instructions. Keep the result for the original procedure.
