Before coding or preparing service input files, save data from the vehicle itself. This guide produces FA, describing the configuration, and SVT Actual, describing the units read and their component versions.

FA means Fahrzeugauftrag, the vehicle order. E-Sys uses it to determine the configuration for coding. SVT means System Variant Table. Actual describes the actual state; Target describes the intended state after planned work.

These steps refer to E-Sys 25.10.01. A connection to the correct vehicle must already be established. If it is not connected, configure the connection for that vehicle and diagnostic equipment first.

1. Prepare an input folder

Create a separate folder for the vehicle and read date. Save both files there, without changing the vehicle between the FA and SVT reads.

The originals are useful for comparison after a repair or retrofit. If FA later needs editing, work on a copy to distinguish the vehicle read from manual changes.

2. Read and save FA

  1. Open Expert Mode → Coding.
  2. Under Vehicle Order, select Read to read FA from the vehicle. Load opens a saved file.
  3. Wait for the FA tree and completion of the read.
  4. Expand FAList → FA → FZAuftrag → Header → Vinlong. Check VIN against the vehicle. E-Sys obtains VIN when reading FA.
  5. Select Save in the same Vehicle Order area and save FA in the prepared folder.

A file name such as FA_read_2026-10-05.xml helps distinguish reads on different dates. It is an example name, not a required one.

The file reflects FA read now. If equipment changes were recorded in FA after production, it may differ from factory FA retrieved by VIN.

3. Read and save SVT Actual

Find SVT Actual in the same Coding module.

  1. Select Read (ECU) to read from the units and wait for completion.
  2. Check that the unit list appears in System Variant Table (SVT). Inspect the read result messages.
  3. Select Save in SVT Actual.
  4. Save the file beside FA, for example as SVT_actual_read_2026-10-05.xml.

The interface also has Read (VCM), which obtains SVT through vehicle configuration management. This example uses Read (ECU) to read directly from the units. Record which method produced the file.

4. Check the saved pair

The folder should contain two separate files: FA and SVT Actual. Check each save path to avoid using an older pair from another folder.

FA must match the required VIN, and SVT must belong to the same vehicle and read. If a read was interrupted or reported an error, investigate and repeat it. A visible unit list alone does not establish that all required units responded.

These files describe the configuration and system components. Saving them does not create a complete backup of unit memory.

Example

Before replacing a unit, connect to the vehicle, read FA, check VIN and save it. Read SVT Actual next and save it in the same folder. Use the pair to compare states after repair or as input for a service requiring those particular data.

The pair read here is obtained from the vehicle. It differs from the Factory FA service result, which contains factory FA only and no SVT.

After saving the input pair, follow a separate procedure for the specific coding or programming task.

Use the vehicle read for NCD

Check VIN, FA origin and SVT state before submitting the pair. If units or software changed afterwards, obtain suitable data for the job first.

Orders are handled through the Telegram bot. Open the bot from the service page, check the selected service and follow its input instructions. Keep the result for the original procedure.
